I am Tim Awbery.
And this is what I do...

Bridging the gap between science and policy

The first question should always be "what is the end goal?". Unfortunately, the process is often far more focused on getting the science published than making actual change. The projects that I really enjoy getting involved in, have a full conservation pipeline in mind, from data collection to how it will affect meaningful change.

The goal: Getting more from your data

A statistician will always want a dataset to be collected in absolutely perfect manner, but it rarely is.

Out in the field things get messy, you might not have the time or the budget to complete the perfect survey. On some days the weather might be bad or some of the crew might be ill. With budgets getting forever tighter, you rarely get a second chance. But that doesn't mean that the data is wasted however. You may not be able to do the analysis you had in mind but with the right tools there's normally something that can be gleaned from the data.

And that's where I come in. I have a broad range of experience in multiple spatial and statistical techniques. The one thing that they all have in common? That the data is never perfect.

I would without a doubt recommend Tim Awbery and Plotting the Wild. We have engaged Tim in a number of complex spatial projects and he has always found a solution!
